We have another Hour by Hour Challenge completed by the Meghann Holverson! Here is what she had to say about her experience!

“Hello! It has been a few years since I have shot anything professionally, and I always feel a little badly when I see the camera we invested so much in, tucked away in our closet. I’m slightly appeased knowing that I get some quick shots of the kids on my phone, but in my opinion, that doesn’t even slightly compare to what comes from a real camera. I’d always said I’d keep the camera out and use it for everything, how quickly I forget. A couple of months ago I decided I would take one picture a day, just so we had something to put into our photo albums of regular days. But I found that I left the camera sit, for some reason the pressure of ONE photo a day had me looking for ONE perfect shot that would embody the entire day. I just recently stumbled upon your blog (actually a link shared by Heather Wilson and her hour by hour challenge), and first thing the next morning, grabbed my camera to document our day! I love family life, I love how much energy is packed into every moment, and I worry that one day I will have forgotten, this challenge was a great exercise for me! Here’s a typical Friday at the Holverson house!”
This is a new game that the 4 youngest play – they drive cars around and around and around the coffee table. They’ll play for hours, and they have very specific rules, which I can’t figure out. I know there’s running, I know you’re out if you “bonk” – but as for winning, I have no clue. But they all agree as to who wins, and then they start the next round, so who am I to intervene?
Hours and hours are spent with Legos, they re-create movies, build pretend worlds, and even do school projects with them! Stepping on Legos is a constant at our house.
Staying Safe at Home, and not having school today, made for some time to just sit quietly. I actually love these moments, and wish I were better at taking them myself.
Lunch time. Sometimes I sit on the far end of the table and just eavesdrop on their conversations.
None of the kids really nap anymore, but we try to maintain some quiet time after lunch. Lately the kids have been listening to Adventures in Odyssey online. They use the time to color, play quietly etc, and I take a minute to catch my breath!
Our oldest was given felt and some ideas for how to make flowers, she LOVES it, and her sister sits by watching every step.
Today is Good Friday – so we dyed eggs! I can’t remember doing it in the past, for the most part, our parents and extended family offer such fabulous things for Easter (egg hunts, baskets etc) that Aaron and I just focus on getting everyone to church on time! This year, all the traditions are up to us, and it has been fun making the memories! Aaron was leading worship at church, so after he was finished with his eggs, he had to work on prep for that, while some of the kids dyed the same egg for the 4th or 5th time.
The kids are young enough that it is still normal to eat suppers together. It is often Aaron and I trying to rein in the crazy, and catching tipping cups of milk, but I’m thankful for the routine.
Friday night we meet with our Life Group – however now that we “Stay Safe at Home” our group meets online. It isn’t nearly the same, but its good to have an opportunity for connection!
Most nights Aaron and I sit in the hall and read chapter books to the kids as they settle down, everything from Junie B. Jones to Love Does. We are currently reading Wonder and it has been so good. Aaron usually sings a song or 2 with the kids, they belt out praise, or Johnny Cash or whatever comes to mind!
After the kids are in bed, on the weekends especially, we’ll make a snack and watch a movie. I wonder if someday it won’t be us shoving art supplies and legos and cars to the other end of the coffee table so we can watch something on the laptop. But right now, this is it, and this is pretty great.

I love this! It brought back sweet memories of our homeschooling days when my children were little.
