My name is Nikia Paden, of Iridescent Photography, capturer of “All the Nonsense”. However, not as of lately. I hadn’t picked up my camera in quite some time with all the chaos happening, so I decided to think of something fun and messy that would grab my Mini’s attention.
What’s in the house... Face paints that’ll work! So I did a quick trial run on myself, and painted my hand with dollops of paint and then smashed it on my face. This was a necessary step, since we all know 5yr olds don’t have the longest attention span in the moment while they are trying to figure things out. After getting a rough draft plan in place, I found my partner in all things nonsensical and asked her if was she down to get messy while pointing at my face full of paint. Obviously she couldn’t resist!
We headed to the front porch, since I knew I wanted the colors to pop off the white background and unleashed those tremendous CURLS. There really was no strategic method to the madness. We Bob Ross’ed her hands, and in no particular way pressed them on her face. The moment was so PURE and interactive it even made our nosy neighbors laugh. The carefree feeling of it all, along with fart noises and TikTok video references is what prompted those amazingly contagious AUTHENTIC smiles filled with half grown teeth.
My final word of advice would be to keep in mind that the mess is what makes the magic. It’s really the best of what childhood has to offer, and quite frankly, it’s absolutely what I enjoy MOST!
Oh, I love this! The pictures and the story…simple, direct, and so on point! Beautiful little girl, too.
